Giants Biggest Offseason Decision Of 2024 Blows Up In Their Face Before They Even Start Playing In Week 1

Giants' 2024 Offseason Decision Backfires Spectacularly

Giants Roll the Dice on Jones

After an abysmal 4-13 season in 2023, the Giants were in desperate need of a change at quarterback. Veteran Daniel Jones had failed to live up to expectations, and the team decided to move on from him in the offseason.

New general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll opted to bring in Tyrod Taylor as a stop-gap option under center, while using the 2024 NFL Draft to find their franchise quarterback of the future.

Taylor's Injury Derails Giants' Plans

Taylor, who had previously spent time with the Bills and Texans, suffered a season-ending injury in the Giants' preseason opener. This forced the team to turn to unproven backup Davis Webb as their starting quarterback.

Webb, a former third-round pick of the Giants, has struggled mightily in his limited NFL action. He has thrown for just 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in his career, and has a passer rating of just 62.9.

Giants' Offense Stalls Without Competent QB Play

The Giants' offense has been anemic with Webb at the helm. The team has scored just 13 points in their first two games, and has turned the ball over 7 times.

The lack of production from the offense has put a tremendous amount of pressure on the Giants' defense, which has been one of the worst in the NFL through two weeks.

Giants' Season Spiraling Out of Control

The Giants are now 0-2 on the season, and their playoff hopes are already hanging by a thread. The team has a difficult schedule ahead, and it's hard to imagine them winning more than a few games with Webb at quarterback.

The Giants' decision to move on from Jones is looking like a major mistake. Taylor's injury was a setback, but Webb has shown that he is not capable of leading this team to success.

Giants Must Make a Change at Quarterback

The Giants need to make a change at quarterback as soon as possible. They can either sign a veteran free agent or trade for a young quarterback. If they don't, their season is likely doomed.
